Help for these Common Conditions

Anxiety and Depression

Mentally healthy behaviour is fundamental to our wellbeing, but many people struggle to remain on top of things. Factors such as work-related stress, financial worries, carer responsibilities, can overwhelm us. When this happens it can seem impossible to see a way out and we either become anxious, depressed, or angry about the situation in which we find ourselves. But there is a way out, and hypnotherapy can help you to find the direction in which you need to go.

Phobias

Debilitating fears and phobias can be overcome in as little as four sessions. The negative effects of phobias may affect not only you, but also your family and friends. Fear of flying, enclosed spaces, spiders, even dogs and cats, are some of the phobias that hypnotherapists can help with. Embarrassment, an inability to participate in social events or go to work, panic attacks, intrusive thoughts, and fear are examples of how you may feel. Hypnotherapy has also proven to be very effective in treating needle phobia and fear of dental procedures – well worth considering if you have a condition which involves ongoing treatment by injection or blood tests.

Insomnia

Sleep is vital to our health and wellbeing, but too often we get insufficient or poor quality sleep. The causes of insomnia vary from person to person but frequently anxiety plays a significant part. Irrespective of causation, hypnotherapy can guide you to a better understanding of what constitutes good sleep, and what you can change in order to achieve the rest you deserve.

Confidence and Performance

Do you want to make a good impression at interview, have you got an important presentation coming up, have you been promoted, or do you just want to feel more confident about dealing with the pressures of day-to-day life? Hypnotherapy can provide the tools and techniques which will enable you to make better decisions and choices. When you feel calm and in control, not only will your confidence improve but so will your performance.

Smoking and Vaping

Smoking has grave consequences for your health, and the evidence is overwhelming. So why do you continue to smoke? Because you get that ‘feel good’ moment, or it relaxes you when you feel stressed, or you always have a cigarette with your morning coffee. Smoking is a habit, and habits are difficult to overcome. But with help and support you can change your behaviour and become a non-smoker.

Vaping is relatively new and was developed initially as an aid to help people stop smoking. It has now taken on a life of its own and unfortunately seems to be particularly attractive to young people. Does vaping have an adverse effect on health? The scientific evidence currently available indicates that yes it does. Is that a risk you want to take?

So if you are trying to stop smoking or vaping, hypnotherapy can help. You will need two sessions, four to seven days apart. And to be clear from the outset, you must want to give up for yourself, not because someone else has persuaded you. This personal commitment is important as without it success cannot be guaranteed. Do get in touch, you wont regret making that first move towards better health.

Weight Management

Have you struggled with your weight, tried dieting repeatedly, paid out for yet another gym membership, and felt despondent at the ever increasing size of your clothes? Well there is a way to break the cycle and regain control. Unhealthy eating behaviour is often linked to stress, anxiety, and low mood. Research has shown that ‘stress reduction hypnotherapy’ is an effective way to help you lose weight and maintain that weight loss over time.

Obesity is a key factor in heart disease, diabetes, breathing problems, stroke, osteoarthritis, and reduced mobility. Obesity also significantly reduces life expectancy. So if you would like to understand more about how and why hypnotherapy can help you achieve and maintain a healthy weight, then give me a call.

Trauma

What is trauma? It’s origin is from the ancient Greek word ‘traumatikos’, meaning ‘wound’. But in today’s world we think of trauma as experiencing terrifying or distressing events which are out of our control, and with which we find it difficult or even impossible to cope. It can be a single incident like a car accident or assault, or an ongoing issue which continues over a long period of time, such as psychological or physical abuse. In the aftermath of trauma individuals often resort to a wide range of coping strategies such as alcohol and drug misuse, self-harm, aggression, withdrawal, or in some cases a combination.

In whatever form, trauma takes it’s toll on our mental health and wellbeing, and invariably impacts on those close to us. Trauma is contagious.

It takes courage to ask for help. Give me a call or email and I will be able to explain how hypnotherapy can make a difference and provide a way forward.
